Happy New Year... Let's Talk About Custom Body Jewels
Welcome to 2020! The most futuristic year of all time. If you are not wearing, or haven't heard of body jewelry, let me bring you up to speed. Everyone is OBSESSED with body jewels and you NEED one too. Fortunately if you've made it this far into researching body jewelry you are in a good place. I make them custom to fit your fabulous body. Now I would like to fill you in about the process for ordering a custom body jewel and how I make these babies from scratch.
There are two ways to order a custom piece of body jewelry from me, Citrine Tangerine. One way is to schedule a fitting in my home studio. The second way to order a custom body jewelry is through e-mail, direct message, or text. The process for ordering is fairly simple for both options.
For the first, in person option, you come over and I take your measurements, we pick out beads, discuss color choices, and try on different styles or shapes we want for your piece. When you come over first thing we do is try on a few of my ready to wear pieces and get your measurements. I have several styles to pick from. Once we figure out the direction of style I make a sketch of the design. Now it's time to talk about colors and fit. You can tell me your dreams for color scapes. At this point you're almost ready for your body jewelry to come to life but first you have to put a deposit down. The deposit for your piece varies depending on your materials and the extravagance of your piece. Prices for custom body jewelry start at $400 unless your design is incredibly simple.
For over email, text or direct message orders, you are responsible for taking your measurements. I will tell you which areas of your body to measure. Then the process is very similar to the in person ordering. Instead of trying the ready to wear pieces on you would send me a few reference photos and have a look at my already created designs. This way I have a solid idea of what you're looking for in a body jewel and I can make a sketch. We discuss colors and fit. Then you put a deposit down and I begin the bead shopping for your piece.
Once I have your deposit I find the right beads for your piece. During this part of the process I share a few pictures to give you an idea of the beads that are available. After the beads are found I begin thinking about how I will approach creating your body jewel design. The creation process starts with one bead and turns into a fabulous web of beaded wire wrapped chain that adorns the body so elegantly.
I start by playing with the beads, putting them into different patterns and spectrums. The colors and shapes of beads mesmerize me for a few days before we connect. Then I start laying them out into segments of the garment. At this point the beads and I are locked into action. It may sound weird or odd but making a connection with the beads and the colors of them is an incredibly important part of the design process. Citrine Tangerine designs are charged with intentional energy for the wearer and this is the integrity of all my pieces. Anyone can make jewelry but the added connection between the materials, the designer and the wearer make a HUGE difference in how it feels when you put these pieces on.
Some times I start with the neckline, sometimes I start with the strand around the ribs. It depends on the design and its complexity. I have to imagine how to connect these strands in a way that flows with the body I'm making the piece for. Fit is critical for body jewels. We are all so fabulously different, as a designer I understand this and I appreciate it. Citrine Tangerine designs are created for YOU the individual, with your own fit and style.
After a few weeks, your piece is nearly finished and I am wrapping up the final details like fringe, fit, and color flow. For in person orders I will have you meet back at my home studio for your final fitting and payments. You will be able to take your piece home at this point. For internet or phone orders I will get some final measurements that are more specific to you in relation to the piece. Once I have your final payment, your piece will be shipped to you. Over all it takes between 1-2 months for the creation process, depending on how many orders are ahead of yours maybe longer. Every body jewel is made by my two hands and the materials are selected by me.
Please understand this is not only a creative process but also a sacred one. I believe humans are Gods and Deities. My work is not a hobby. What I do and create comes from my soul. Deep in my essence I've learned that we need to uplift, respect and love ourselves deeply so we can treat others this same way. My guides directed me to creative outlets as a career. Jewelry is worn by us because it makes us feel good, it's an heirloom, and it connects us to our ancestors. I create jewelry that will last for generations and my materials are high quality. Everyone can wire wrap jewelry but they are not me and Citrine Tangerine designs are unique to me. How I create is my own, it is entangled with my purpose and it will inspire you to begin a journey to your higher path.
I would also like to state that Citrine Tangerine jewelry and body jewels are not associated with gender. Let me emphasize that ALL are welcome to jewelry. Custom jewelry is made for YOU. No matter who you are, how you define yourself, what ever your size, shape or identity, I welcome your ideas and will gladly design you jewelry. Do not be afraid or locked into gender norms or fashion norms. It is your right to freedom of expression. Especially when it comes to style and fashion.
I can make body jewelry with brass, copper, silver or gold wire. The price listed above is the starting price for a brass body jewel. Silver is quite a bit more expensive than brass. Silver tarnishes fairly quickly as well. Also understand that gold is significantly more expensive than silver. My prices will reflect that depending on your order. You can order your body jewelry in glass beads that hold energetic and colorful power, or gemstones which hold earthly power because they are thousands, if not millions of years old. The decision for glass or gemstones is completely yours. The gemstones are more expensive because they are not made by humans ( i do not use synthetic gemstones) therefore there is a finite amount available on the market.
